CHARLOTTE, NC. (April 2, 2012) - The Charlotte Eagles unveiled their all-new primary and alternate uniforms on Monday night at the Doubletree by Hilton in Uptown Charlotte. Midfielder Chris Salvaggione and defender Mark Boom modeled the new uniforms made by Admiral, the official team uniform supplier.
"The Charlotte Eagles uniform is meant to honor the heritage of both the Charlotte Eagles and Admiral," said Steve Shak, Eagles Assistant Coach. "The primary uniform is designed with the Chevron which was made popular by West Ham United who won the English FA Cup twice and player in the European Cup Winners final in Admiral. We added a modern take to the jersey to commemorate the past and present of the Eagles’ 20 year history in the USL."
Paul Hamburger CEO of Admiral said, "The new jerseys have been designed by the club and are unique to the Eagles. The chevron style was played in by England World cup winners and Admiral legends, Bobby Moore also of Seattle Sounders fame, Geoff Hurst and Trevor Brooking. It’s made with Admiral’s proprietary Vapor Draw Technology which draws sweat to the outside of the garment where it evaporates, keeping the skin side drier, cooler and more comfortable. The construction also allows for maximum flexibility and stretch for the players allowing them to perform at their best on the pitch. With the legendary design and innovative fabric we believe the Eagles will fly high this season."
The alternate jersey demonstrates a departure from the mainly white alternate uniform from last season. The shirt is a modern take on the classic chevron uniform. The main color is Eagles’ Orange with accent colors of white and black. The Eagles alternate uniforms are a simple Eagles’ Blue with white colored sleeves. All jerseys this season will bear the USL logo patch on the sleeve.
Chris Salvaggione remarked about the jersey, "I like the orange jersey because it has a throwback look with the chevron across the chest but the way the design flows and fades towards the bottom adds a modern look to it. I like the simplicity of the blue away jersey because there is something cool about a clean basic design. It adds a bit of class. The fabric is the best part of both jerseys, I love how light it is and it breathes very well."
