(April 24, 2012, San Juan, Puerto Rico) Surrounded by cheers from fans and teammates, the Puerto Rico Islanders FC revealed their “retro” uniform that they will use this 2012 season. Captain Noah Delgado, Alexis Rivera, Nick Addlery and David Foley sported the new kit, a team’s distinctive orange jersey crossed by white hoops. Cody Laurendi wore the goalkeeper uniform, which is bright green. After the launch, Islander fans had the opportunity to take pictures with the players, and buy the new jerseys of the 2012 season.
"We did something special with this year’s kit. Admiral did a great job giving us something unique and with a lot of class. The fans and the players are excited for this year's retro jersey, and within a couple of weeks we will have the online store ready so that everyone can be wearing orange in the stands,” said Islanders President Andres Guillemard- Noble.
The new jersey bears the woven Islanders logo, embroidered Admiral logo on the front. There’s two stars on the front in recognition of the 2010 & 2011 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) championship and another on the sleeve in recognition of the 2010 USSF D-2 League championship (now know as the NASL). The NASL patch is on the sleeve. The back features custom lettering, numbering and the admiralsoccer.com logo. The orange color is of course a tradition for the "La Barra Naranja" as the clubs fans are known.
Admiral also developed two alternate playing kits for the club and custom training kits for the team too. “This season you’ll see Admiral on the soccer field across the NASL, USL and teams throughout America,” said Admiral CEO Paul Hamburger. “Admiral is delighted to be working with the Islanders and a number of other teams in Puerto Rico.”
