The Stars’ defense kept the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at bay Saturday night, earning a 0-0 tie on the road to clinch the NASL Championship Series with a 3-1 aggregate victory.

The Stars survived a wild one in Cary, N.C., Saturday night. Leading 1-0 from the first leg, the Stars lost the second 4-3 to the Carolina RailHawks, leaving the semifinal series tied 4-4 on aggregate. After a scoreless 30-minute extra time period, the Stars prevailed in shootout, making all five kicks in a 5-3 win.
