The last couple of months have marked more than just a rebrand—it has been the dawn of a new era for Central Florida soccer. For over five decades, Sol SC has been a cornerstone of Central Florida soccer. The club has evolved through many identities—Tri-County, Orange County SC, Florida Rush—each chapter building on a legacy of developing champions both on and off the field. But this year brought the most significant transformation yet: the birth of Sol Sports Club. American youth soccer has evolved into an increasingly exclusive pay-to-play system where financial capacity often determines access to quality development opportunities. We examined the relationship between rising participation costs, declining youth engagement, and the concentration of talent development within elite, expensive club structures.
